Everyone should be able to use this.
A statement of what we build toward, what we have actually done, and what we know is still imperfect. If any of it gets in your way, one phone call gets you everything the site offers.

What we are aiming for
We want anyone to be able to look at our work and reach us, whether they are using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, zooming the page, or just do not see reds and greens the way the person who chose them does.
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not going to claim the site meets every success criterion perfectly, because that is a claim almost nobody can honestly make and we would rather tell you what we actually do.
What we have done
- Every photograph of our work carries a text description of what it shows.
- The whole site can be operated from a keyboard, including the estimate form and the before and after sliders, which have keyboard controls as well as drag.
- Every form field has a visible label rather than only a placeholder, so the label does not vanish once you start typing.
- Body text is set at a size and contrast intended to stay readable when zoomed.
- Headings run in a real order, so a screen reader can be used to skim the page.
- Colour is never the only way something is communicated. Anywhere colour carries meaning, there is a word or a shape carrying it too.
- The background video in the header is silent and carries no information of its own.
What we know is imperfect
Being straight about the gaps is more useful than a badge. As of the date at the top of this page:
- The before and after comparison sliders are inherently visual. Both images carry descriptive text, but the comparison itself is hard to convey without sight.
- The site has not been through a formal third party audit. Our testing is our own, with keyboard navigation and a screen reader.
- Some project photographs show fine detail, such as a joint or a profile, that no reasonable alt text fully captures.
You never have to use the website
The website is one way to reach us and not the only one. Everything on it, including the full list of what we build and a free written estimate, is available by phone.
Call (224) 425-6059, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm. A person answers. Tell us what you want built and we will take it from there, with no part of the process requiring you to go back to the site.
If something here gets in your way
Please tell us. It is the fastest route to it being fixed, and we would genuinely rather know.
Email hello@chicagobathworks.com or call (224) 425-6059. If you can, say which page it was and what you were using, for example a particular screen reader or browser. We aim to reply within five business days and to fix what we reasonably can.
